What is the Tactical Habits Project?

The Tactical Habits Project is a leadership system built for people who actually lead—on the ground, in real time, under pressure. It started with a single book, but it’s grown into a full framework: habits, tools, and honest conversations about how to lead. This is system is for leaders, soldiers, and mentors who believe leadership is a skill—and are willing to build it, one habit at a time.

Field Notes

Inside habits from the field. delivered one mission at a time.

I’m Quentin L. Brown — a U.S. Army officer, a Marion Military Institute graduate, and a firm believer that leadership starts before the title ever shows up on your uniform.

Tactical Habits wasn’t born from a textbook. It came from real pressure, personal failure, and the moments I realized discipline isn’t just about action — it’s about identity. Over the past two decades, I’ve trained, mentored, and served alongside leaders at every level. And I’ve seen what happens when people wait for the rank before they start leading.

This project is my answer to that. It’s not just a book — it’s a leadership tool designed for cadets, junior officers/NCOs, and anyone preparing to lead under pressure. While I’m the one writing these words, I’ve had help shaping them — from teammates, from soldiers, from mentors, and from hard-earned lessons.

Tactical Habits is for anyone ready to lead on purpose. Before the title. Before the rank.
